SVP & Chief Network Officer
Lynn Cox was appointed SVP and Chief Network Officer in March of 2022. In this role she is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of Verizon’s global voice, data, IP and wireless networks. She leads an organization of 7,500 engineers in the continued expansion of wireline and wireless networks, including 5G, LTE, FiOS, MEC and the Intelligent Edge network. In this role, she is responsible for the largest telco capital investment program in the world, bringing new network technologies and capabilities to Verizon’s consumers and businesses.
Prior to her current role, Cox was Senior Vice President and CIO of the Network and Technology business unit at Verizon. In this role, she was responsible for deploying all of the operating systems that enabled the business to plan, build and operate Verizon’s networks, as well as provision and activate products and services onto the networks. These systems provide automation of major functions like inventory management, engineering and construction, service and infrastructure provisioning, service assurance, field operations and work process optimization.
Cox was also vice president – Network Operations and Engineering for Verizon Wireless. She was appointed to this role in 2012 and had responsibilities including management of all network planning, engineering, construction, performance and maintenance of Verizon Wireless’s voice and data networks in the Northeast and Great Lakes Markets. She managed $3B in capital spend focused on deployment of new coverage solutions, capacity additions, network reliability and technology migrations.
As vice president – Network Field Operations, she was responsible for the central office, technical facility, special service, and CPE field operations across 42 US states and 22 countries, as well as national Federal field operations. She led a team of 4,500 management and associate employees who supported Wholesale, Consumer, Enterprise and Government customers. Her focus was on the provisioning and maintenance of Verizon’s Wireline network, including construction and splicing functions for the Enterprise backbone.
Throughout her career at Verizon, Cox held multiple management positions in the Network & Technology group, including executive director – Engineering and executive director of Program Management leading our Fios deployment, and numerous director positions.
Cox holds an MBA degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from James Madison University.
