Chief Jeff Johnson has a distinguished career in public safety, with experience spanning local, national, and international levels. After rising through the ranks, he served as Fire Chief for Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue for 15 years, retiring in 2010 after a 32-year career. Chief Johnson is a co-founder and former Vice Chairman of FirstNet, the organization responsible for deploying the world’s first nationwide wireless broadband network dedicated to public safety, which now connects over 6 million users and 25,000 agencies.
He has also served as President of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), President of the Western and Oregon Fire Chiefs and Executive Director, which represents fire chiefs across 11 western states.
In addition to his public safety work, Chief Johnson has an extensive background in the private sector as an entrepreneur and board member of multiple public and private companies. He is also the principal of Sisters Meat and Smokehouse, launched in August 2016, which is expanding its franchise presence across Oregon. Known for his relentless innovation and advocacy for public safety, Chief Johnson continues to make a significant impact in both public service and the private sector.
