Fixed wireless access has been the most successful part of 5G for operators and is delivering connectivity for those without other good options. FWA gives operators a way to further monetize valuable midband spectrum, and Verizon is also using mmWave spectrum for FWA, offering broadband service to MDUs. In addition, operators are selling FWA to businesses, for everything from backup connectivity to point-of-sale service on demand. Will enterprise FWA be the next 5G success story? Will BEAD end up funding more FWA deployments as fiber projects face permitting and construction delays? What role do radio technologies play in helping operators expand FWA without threatening their mobile businesses?
