Convergence is the new buzzword – again. Wireless carriers are bundling mobile service with broadband, delivered by fiber or FWA, and they are also bundling streaming video services with wireless to make the service even stickier. Meanwhile MVNOs are offering very similar bundles, but with less ability to scale on the wireless side since they don’t own their infrastructure. For these providers, CBRS small cells and public Wi-Fi hotspots are key contributors to mobile capabilities and to cost structures. What will the drive to offer converged service mean for investment and operational trends in the months ahead?
